Adjusting the download options in your Windows Media Player should stop the video from being jerky, but will cause a little delay in starting it:

bulletClick on the Start button at bottom left of your screen.
bulletOn the menu which comes up, click on All Programs.
bulletOn each menu which then comes up, click on the following in turn: Accessories, then Entertainment, then Windows Media Player
bulletThis takes you into the media player.
bulletOn the menu which runs along the top of the screen, click on Tools.
bulletOn each menu which then drops down, click on the following in turn: Options, then the Performance file tab.
bulletHalfway down on the Options screen, find the words "Buffer ...... seconds of content".
bulletClick on the small round button to the left of that wording, to turn the button from white to green.
bulletDelete the figures presently in the white space within that wording, and put "30" there instead.
bulletClick on the OK button at the bottom of this small window.
bulletClick on the red X button at the top right of the screen to exit Windows Media Player.

When you play the video, if it looks like the power has gone off in the Kalh Kardia, with the video playing, try the following (based on version 10):

bulletOn top menu, click on View.
bulletOn menu which then drops down, click on Enhancements.
bulletOn further menu which appears on right, click on Video Settings.
bulletYou get four slider controls at the bottom of the screen.
bulletUsing the mouse, move both the Brightness and Contrast controls a little to the right.
bulletWhen you are happy with the effect, click on the tiny "X" on the top right of the slider control panel to get rid of the sliders.
bulletEnjoy!
