Venice - St Mark's Square

From the vaporetto we were taken on a walking tour of St Mark's square, led by a local guide.

Think Alun's had enough of being organised!

St Mark's cathedral tower:

Alun helps us get our bearings: cathedral tower on left, other interesting building in centre, Doges Palace on right.  Not captured on camera, a forbidden sport here is Pigeon Football!

Another cathedral?

This is definitely the Doges Palace!

Round the corner from the square is the Bridge of Sighs - so named because convicted criminals were taken over that bridge from the courthouse (right) into jail (left) to start their sentence:
