To the left, in beige outfit, Enzo the guide, who took us around Pompeii, Herculaneum and the Museum of Naples.  He was reputed to be the best English-speaking guide.  They all wore ID and badges showing which languages they spoke.  They were ordered in advance, at a cost of about 3 Euro each for a large party like ours.

Janette: uttered in Janaury "I'm going to climb up Vesuvius, and look in the top!", and here I am proving I got there.

Hello, Enzo to Alun, are you receiving me?  Newfangled things, can't we get the World Service instead?  These were the gadgets we wore around the archaeological sites, much more convenient than those phone things.

Been there, got the postcard, says the Straw Bear.  You can have your postcard franked at one of the cafes on the summit of Vesuvius.

You might remember these from the Capri page. These are traffic cops.  There are different kinds of police in very distinct uniforms, all with designer sunglasses.
