The main square in Sorrento is the Piazza Tasso, and there is a statue of him in the centre. The yellow and white church at the far side is dedicated to St Mary, and was unfortunately never open at a time when we were free.
Another view in a different direction, unusually free of traffic:
Below, the gorge which splits the two halves of Sorrento houses the road down to the port.
Sorrento harbour, with Vesuvius in the background. That isn't smoke, it's clouds.
The Foreigners Bar, jointly Italian and English owned, serving both kinds of food and drink, where tourist information is also housed.
The Drains, a Roman road system, similar to the port area of Chania on Crete, which is now a shopping area.
Leather belts for 1.50 Euro, that's what he's after...
Wish we knew what this ship was...
A view looking back at Sorrento, probably at the beginning of our trip to Capri.
A more distant view of Sorrento...
One of the several churches...
The Drains, the old Roman quarter.
Horse taxis could take you right down to the port, via the hairpin bends within the gorge which separates the two halves of the town.
It wouldn't be Italy without scooters...
A publicity photo of the bar on the Piazza Tasso, where you go to see and be seen.

Looking over at Vesuvius from the Foreigners Bar, courtesy of their leaflet.
