Grimsthorpe Castle is on the A151, between Colsterworth on the A1, and the market town of Bourne. It was completed in 1516 for Henry VIII, making it Tudor, and he gave it to the 10th Baron Willoughby de Eresby on the occasion of his marriage to the lady in waiting of Henry's then wife Catherine of Aragon.
This family, which still occupies part of the house today, were traditionally Lord Great Chamberlains to the Palace of Westminster, and there is a collection of furniture and paintings unrivalled outside royal circles as a result of their employer's patronage.
Different facades of the house have varying architectural styles as the house was added to by successive generations of the family.
